Wind turbine real-time simulation based on discrete space vector modulation direct torque control

Abstract

To solve the problem that was difficult to research the related technology of wind power generation in the laboratory, a technique, adopting the advanced direct torque control (DTC) strategy to control an induction motor, was proposed to simulate the wind turbine. The calculation method of wind turbine torque characteristics and DTC of induction motor were designed to follow the changes of wind turbine torque. Discrete space vector modulation (DSVM) was used to improve the low speed performance of the system. Further, the simulation results in RT-LAB real-time simulation platform verify that the designed wind turbine system presents good stability and high reliability. Thus, it provides a good way to research the wind power generation in the laboratory.
