Abstract

Vacuum testing of high performance Alkali Metal Thermal to Electric Conversion (AMTEC) cells and Micro-Machined Evaporator (MME) and PL-9A cells showed that current/voltage performance does not vary much compared to guard heater tests. This approach was used because long term data at high temperatures can only be obtained through vacuum testing as current feedthroughs will oxidize at high temperature in air over extended periods.
