Abstract

The Stark shifts and the widths of the ground and excited states of a hydrogen atom are calculated. Two independent calculation methods are used: a summation of divergent perturbation theory series and 1/n expansion. The results of the calculations for the Rydberg (n≫1) states are in agreement with the experiment.
