Abstract

A scalable solution to the location problem in a data-sharing peer-to-peer (P2P) network, consisting of a network of XML database nodes and XML router nodes was developed. The internal organization and routing protocols for the XML router nodes were developed, for enabling scalable XPath query and update processing. Space/performance tradeoff was facilitated and algorithms were developed for generating aggregated information. The scalability and performance of query and update protocols was demonstrated experimentally, using a detailed simulation model.
