Abstract

Ocellated lizards from C Spain (L. lepida lepida) mature at an age of 32-33 months, upon attaining a minimum size of 122-148 mm snout-vent-length. One clutch averaging 16.9 eggs is produced annually, with an inverse correlation between egg and clutch size. Lizards from SE Spain (L. lepida nevadensis) have smaller clutches (mean 12.3 eggs), composed of relatively large eggs. Some individuals produce >1 clutch per year. -from Authors
