Abstract

This paper presents results of a study dealing with the design of cellular manufacturing systems using mathematical modelling techniques. A background study was performed to select the best factors used for performance analysis. The selected design methodologies are applied to a numerical example and results are evaluated using quantitative measures of performance. The result of this analysis can assist the decision maker in selecting the best method for manufacturing cell design.
