One-magnon light scattering and the Faraday rotation in YIG

Abstract

Calculations are presented for the dependence of the Faraday rotation θ with the frequency ω of the incident radiation, in YIG. The relationship between one-magnon Raman scattering cross-sections and θ is given. The temperature and frequency dependencies of θ can be shown to factor out.
