Abstract

This paper presents a Model Predictive Control (MPC) of three-phase three-level Neutral-Point-Clamped (NPC) quasi-Impedance Source (qZS) inverter. This topology features a wide range of voltage gain that is suitable for applications in renewable energy based power systems where the output of the renewable energy sources varies widely with operating conditions such as wind speed, temperature, and solar irradiation. To eliminate the complexity of the modulation techniques and to overcome the weaknesses of the inner control loop performance, MPC technique is employed in control stage. To verify the dynamic and steady-state performances of the proposed MPC scheme under various load and reference currents. Simulation studies are performed with Matlab&Simulink software. Obtained results show that the proposed MPC strategy works properly at steady-state and transients.
