Intelligent interfaces for reservoir simulators

Abstract

This article describes an interactive software called AIRS TM (for Artificial Intelligence for Reservoir Simulators). This system helps the user build the input data file for reservoir numerical simulation software. It uses Artificial Intelligence methods to create some 'friendly intelligent interfaces' used to input the large amount of data needed by the simulator 1. In these interfaces, the user is guided through a set of screens automatically generated by a screen generator 2 according to his set of data. Two operational applications were developed : 1) one for a well-testing simulator 3, 2) the other for a 3-phase, n-components compositional thermal reservoir model 4,5.
