Abstract

The present study considers the effect of gamma irradiation on the leaching stability of a simulated nuclear waste glass in aqueous solutions. Significant increases in the elemental release rates on the glass during irradiation, as reported here, demonstrate the importance of consideration of this parameter in predicting long-term stabilities in geologic waste repositories.
