Discrimination of events in the Indian Ocean

Abstract

This paper deals with the discrimination of events recorded by the new hydroacoustical network of the International Data Center located in the Indian Ocean. This study provides an estimation of the future hydroacoustic network capacities. In order to have a major diversity of events, we apply different kinds of detectors on the data. Afterwards, for each detection, we extract different discriminating variables such as cutting frequencies, duration, spectral decreasing parameter, ... In this paper, we show that the proposed variables can be used to discriminate event classes. In addition, we present how these parameters can also be used to associate the detections from the several individual bulletin stations. These associations enable us to construct a map presenting the different detection localizations.
