Conversion of hausmanite (Mn3O4) particles to nano-fibrous manganite (MnOOH) at ambient conditions

Abstract

The technique for the conversion of hausmanite (Mn3O 4) particles to nano-fibrous manganite (MnOOH) at ambient conditions, was described. The morphology and structure of the samples were investigated using SEM, XRD, EDS, and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The FTIR experiments revealed a change in the sample's chemical structure from hausmanite to manganite. The synthesized Mn3O4 was shown to change its chemical identity and morphology from irregularly shaped particles of hausmanite to manganite with a fibrous morphology.
