Abstract

The problem of condensing a system of effectively spin-1/2 atoms while conserving its total spin was studied. A general set of Gross-Pitaevskii equation that describe the two macroscopically occupied wave functions in a general form of trapping potential was derived. Two special cases that demonstrate the general properties of the two occupied wave functions were analyzed.
