Abstract
An optimal on-off Air-Conditioner (AC) control scheme, which is proposed to address variable outdoor temperatures under extremely hot weather and desert climate conditions, is studied in this paper. The proposed optimal controller adaptively regulates indoor temperature against outdoors ambient temperature variations based on optimum values generated by an offline multiple-objective optimization tool. The tool uses a cost function for minimum cost calculation which accounts for both Coefficient of Performance (COP) and AC compressor weariness caused by on-off switching. Finally, Optimization and Simulation results under real field-test outdoor temperature conditions demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed AC on-off control system.
